I read today that a boxer named Anthony Joshua is being called a racist for making a speech written by a friend. I am not addressing my statements at him, nor his friend, just at the sentence used, and sentences that are similar to it. Here is the statement in question.
“Abstain from spending your money in their shops and economies, and invest in black-owned businesses.”
Now, looking at that, if you replace the words "black-owned" with the words "white-owned", then it is definitely racist, making the original wording also racist. Making a decision to do something based solely on the color of a persons skin , is racist. In my opinion. it will never matter what color you are, if you preach hate against any other color, you are racist. Saying "I can't be racist because I am black" is just as bad as saying " I can't be racist because I have black friends"
In regards to the belief behind the sentence, me personalty, I do not know who owns 99% of the business I shop at. I know some are employee owned, I know at least one is owned my Middle Eastern immigrants. All I know is I get great service and products from where I shop. If I get bad service or products, then I do not shop there. Quality is my only determining factor of where I personally shop and could care less about who owns the store.
