Well... firstly, I'm glad to say that we're all here on account of what was supposed to happen last night.
Hmm... where to start. I always want to update this, but I often feel as though I don't really have much to say, but then so much time goes by that it rather piles up and then it just becomes embarrassing. Especially as I begin to forget things. Today, I thought I'd spend my free day getting started on the last two seasons of Nip/Tuck. I'm eight or nine episodes in and surprisingly... I don't hate it like I thought I would, having moved everything to Hollywood.
Moving along... I actually attended the SG Halloween Party at Red Rock and forgot to mention it in my last entry. I was getting my Donnie Darko on, with a skeleton shirt and a grey hoodie. It was pretty decent, though having it there versus the previous venue gives it a rather different vibe altogether. It sucks as my ride status wasn't great so I had to call a cab home. Haha, needless to say, there's about a hundred other things I'd rather spend about $100 on. Not to mention wait around and hour and ten minutes for. With the negative out of the way, I met some of the girls. Zebrah was actually rather nice and oddly, taller in person than I'd have thought. Also had a beer supplied by Sunshine, so that was a much appreciated, definite plus.
Shortly after that, my driving status changed as I actually got a new car. Haha, I call him Xerxes...

So, on the twelfth I was Reaganing* like crazy. Haha, I thought it was the lucky undies back to working order, though I think it may have been on account of being 12/12/12... what with either one being such a rare occasion. I actually got my license back on that day and have been trying to drive everywhere since.
I also got my Christmas gift to myself in the form of a new St Anthony charm.

Not to worry about ostentation, it's only about an inch and a quarter each way. On the back is St Anthony's brief in Latin. Also what's pretty cool is the hallmark date. I was thinking about getting a new one but wasn't sure until I saw this one. First, it actually looks a way that suits me, then, I saw that the hallmark date was "29 May 1683" which is of course exactly three hundred years before my birthday. What kismet. So, I jumped on it and had it shipped from Paris... haha, to hell with the cost.
Oh, speaking of receiving fun stuff, I FINALLY got a Tein shirt. Which may not sound like much, but I've been chasing one down for years because they're not available in the US and then once I ordered it, it took like three months to get here. Being as though I'm not one known for my patience, yes, this is a big deal.

I then attended the SG Holiday party back at the same venue as the previous one. Fortunately, I had adequate transportation this time, as per my being able to drive. Oddly, there wasn't as many SGs there although despite that, it was actually a little bit better of a time than the Halloween one. Adorned in a RATT tshirt, I was accompanied by a friend and we mostly played pool. Even played some rounds with the owner. Fun stuff. It was my friend's birthday and he was REALLY enjoying taking photos with the SGs and such.
I received in the mail, a couple bottles of Japanese Whiskey, oh my, my favorite. The ones in question were a Yamazaki 18 and a Hibiki 21. I broke out the Yamazaki 18 for my dad's birthday last Monday and honestly, I have to say that it's actually rather close to the 12. Not that I didn't like it, but I thought it'd be WAY different than the 12. In some ways it is, as it has a sweet like smell and a smokey finish. I intend to make use of the Hibiki 21 on Christmas Eve... which I'm told is this Monday.
Admittedly, I'm actually not stoked for Christmas. I never am. Although this year, despite seeing the Christmas things on TV, or out and about, hearing the songs... it just doesn't feel like it this year. I'm pretty sure that it helps that it's been something like 60 degrees all the way up into late December... in Ohio! It did snow yesterday and it's cold now, so hopefully that helps. I've actually been trying to find The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button on DVD as a Christmas gift for someone and believe it or not, it's SOLD OUT. EVERYwhere! I dare you, go look for it. Which leads me ask, who the hell has three hours to just sit around a TV!? Why would it be sold out?
Speaking of yesterday, I started my Mayan Apocalypse Day off right... by watching FINALLY Apocolypto. You know, I must have had that on DVD for about three years, but never watched it. I thought it'd be like The Passion Of The Christ... I mean, who has that kind of time? Which I actually had that movie on DVD since the day it came out and just watched it last summer. However, I attended a dinner party with friends and got rather topsy turbo on a drink I created called Jaguar Blood, which I thought was an appropriate name for such an occasion. Of course, Heaven forbid I actually make something NOT in a pitcher sized quantity. The funny thing is, that it has that rather concealed approach... in a way very reminiscent to Mojo, in that you don't notice the alcohol, so you just chug one glass after another and then when you first notice that you're getting a little tipsy, it's way too late. Something interesting was that after being off my ass on it, I was sober again within two or three hours. Kind of weirded me out.
Jaguar Blood
9oz Tequila (Patron Anejo)
8oz Rum (Bacardi Oakheart)
5oz Absinthe
12oz Simple Syrup (Literally, 1cup sugar/1cup water, shake)
46oz Pine Juice
40oz Cran Juice
Pour spirits in pitcher, then add Simple Syrup. Pour in Cran and Pine together, forcing the concoction to mix itself, but give it a quick stir if you need to make sure. Serve in cocktail glass, over ice.
Wasn't as "red" as I'd preferred, though I didn't want it to taste super Cran heavy. Oooohhh... maybe I should have... then it'd taste all iron-y. Namely, I ran out of room in the pitcher. I'll have to get it scaled down to a "per glass" serving.
