Just a rant or something of the nature, but here goes...
Ok, so I've come to a conclusion and you can agree with me or not, but has anyone else noticed that the "counter-culture" has become... well, culture? I mean, seriously, I'm all for girls with tattoos, clearly as I'm even a subscriber here on SuicideGirls but come on, now you have high fashion models looking as though they just got out of prison and everybody seems cool with that. Not to mention guys with executive level jobs in three piece suits, with neck tattoos. Now, I'm not saying that guys with neck tattoos shouldn't have that job, but it used to be that guys that had neck tattoos didn't WANT a job or even career like that. There's even lines at the sex clubs, clogged and polluted by soccer-mom housewives that read 50 Shades Of Grey. Don't get me wrong, these are just a couple examples and I'm not attempting in the least bit to be some hipster d-bag and claim flag rights that "I was there first," namely, as I'm in my twenties, that'd be unlikely, not to mention that I don't care to claim anything as mine whatsoever. However, I liked my dark little corner and enjoyed the silence, now there's people with bright lights that continue to loudly traipse through. So, as a society, we need to find the bar, raise it yet again or even redefine it... so then, I can resume defiling it.

I agree. There have been times in my life, where I've caught myself saying that "If I just had a tattoo, maybe I'd fit in, because it seems like everyone has them or are aspiring to get them." I don't plan on trying to feed this new culture, though. Its weird living in a culture where everyone except you has tattoos, but its also pretty cool to see the switch around, from the outside.

How intriguing. It really is kind of obscure being on the other side, isn't it? I would think that it's pretty crazy that being "straight edge" or any variation of which, is now the new counter-culture. Who'd have thought that NOT drinking, doing drugs, getting tattoos, so on and so forth, would put somebody on the outside?
