I got my cap, gown, and other graduation paraphenalia yesterday. It's amazing how one stop in a room to pick up some articles of clothing that you'll only wear once will make adulthood kick in even faster.
I jammed with a friend last night, and if I can start playing guitar more often (damn this homework) I think there's a lot of musical promise there. My thumb has a big ole blister on it now (picks are for pussies), my fingers ache, and I feel really fucking alive. The sore throat is also reaffirming my existence, one cough and sniffle at a time. I harnessed feedback for the first time ever on my little practice amp, and it sounded amazing.
I am a selfish person, but I try not to be.

Im a bubble in a sound wave
A sonic push for energy
Exploding like the sun
A flash of clean light hope
All you scientists can hold your breath
Shall I decide to show myself?
Take me to the source of chaos, let me be the butterfly
Imperfect symmetry has underlying poetry and rhyme
If you think like Thomas Edison
Could you invent a world for me
Now all thats on the surface
Are bloody arms and oil fields
Could I turn this place upside down
And shake you and your fossils out?
You can't predict everything with Newton-like certainty, why?
'Cause it floats around all that we see with oscillating energy on high
And you soothe yourself with a sound you know
You tune out the hypnotic drone
Perfect hexagon of the honeycomb
And you soothe yourself with the shapes you know
Should I come outside and run your cars
Should I run your rockets to the stars
Could you invent a world for me
I need to hear a symphony
If Im to run the future
Youve got to let the old world go
Your word for me is fusion
But is real change an illusion
Could I turn this place all upside down
And shake you and your fossils out
If Im to run the future
Youve got to let the old world go
Could you invent a world for me
I need to hear a symphony

Ilove yer taste in music - there's a little now and a little then
Favorite VU album - Loaded
Favorite Neil Young Album - and a current top 5 all time favorite - Tonight's the Night
out of all the great toons on that lp I'm particularly fond of Candy Says - actually any song by VU with "says" in the title is ok by me
