Cringer and J Church guitarist, lyricist and singer Lance Hahn died this sunday.
The whole worldwide punk community is crying a poet, a libertarian, a nice guy prone to help the scene even when health problems overwhelmed him.
We will miss you, brother.
Here's some lyrics out of Cringer's first album.
Hope some of you reads those words.
Cringer - Sentient
Complete and uncondintional love are things I'm not worthy of.
At the risk of sounding ridicolous, this song is for a cat.
If I told you of the animals in cages left to die,
Would you make an effort or even try?
So blind my eyes and cover my ears.
Tell me all the things you want to hear.
Just tell me lies of how the animals die.
So bind my feet and tie my hand,
Tell me all the things you understand.
If you're so right, how do you sleep at night?
Come to the lab where they're cut up and tied.
How do you feel when they lick your hand and die?
I've heard of the heroes and courageous death,
But just a cat would spend her last breath in a kiss...

Cringer - Peace + Harmony
You spoke of peace and harmony, but I just want you next to me.
You say "power is power in any disguise"
But i just fell for your eyes.
With an energetic political speech you touched something inside of me.
And now that I want you to stay you've got battles to win
Somewhere else, you say.
You spoke of peace and harmony, but now that means nothing to me.
You say "power is power in any disguise"
Like the power you held over my life.
With an energetic political speech you don't practice what you preach.
You've gut a fucking nerve to say you care
When you're the source of my despair.
-------
Cringer - Anticlimax (inspired by Alexander Berkman)
We stand together in angry confusion
The energetic fervor of revolution
All wound up in a mob mentality
That we close our eyes to the reality
Of authoritarianism that's in our midst
It's not easy to see when we all share our fists
A violent revolution is a loser's race
When you destroy a system to put another in its place.
With an almost religious belief in the state
The dogmatic marxist-leninists are breeding the hate
Our dreams of freedom will soon turn sour
As the workers state becomes drunk with power
Captivated by the gutter of marxism
We fiend the ugliest form of capitalism.
A revolution based on authority will keep you in chains
And tell you you're free.
The russian revolutian should have been a clue
As to what power can really do.
What's to stop "stalinism" rising again?
Or Kronstadt, or Mahkno, or anarchists in Spain?
Left wing, right wing, no room for you.
They say their masses outweigh our few.
If we all work together, in love not in hate,
We can look in ourselves
And smash the state. (A)
---------
Cringer - Carmen
Capitalism wanted the best possible good
But now machines made waste we don't need.
If I'm not totally innocent i'm completely guilty.
It's something you don't understand.
That's why I seem like a mess,
Mao was a cool who fed all of China.
Everyone is hungry for something now,
I'd like to take a time machine to find out what you really mean.
It's not love, it's not hate, it's curiosity and debate.
There are some things in the back of my mind
Like dropping acid for the first time.
Wait til you see the fragility of what you call reality.
What revolution?
Who's revolution?
What revolution? I don't care
I'm not the man you think
I'm not the man you think
I'm not the man you think
I'm not

Cringer - Two Friends
I wish I may I wish I might
I wish I had an alibi.
Some of the hurt won't go away
My best friend moved to London today.
At times trying to put my soul in a song
Is as complicated as writing my mom.
It's just a drag to say goodbye
When you know very well there's a reason why.
In the back of my mind is an unpaid debt
For times I learned and can't forget.
Talking til dawn in a drunken haze
Could there be a better way?
I don't wanna be a leader, I don't wanna be led.
I just want to go to bed.
At times it cuts right to the bone
An ugly fear of dying alone.
I wish I may I wish I might
I wish I had an alibi.
I can't explain how much I want you to stay
My best friend moved to New York today.
When I saw you I lied through my teeth
I know you expected more from me
To be the best of friends at the worst of times
Like a wonderful song with too many lines.
At times I see real despair.
At times I act like you're still there.
Like expecting to hear your keys in the door
Or wearing a shirt that you once wore.
It's got nothing to do at all with sex
It's just a deep attachment that I have on my friends.
I'd like to make the wrongs all right
But me and my cat are alone tonight.

Cringer - This Town
This town where I was born
This town where I am torn
This town where I want to go
This town the world doesn't know.
This town I grew up in this town
This town soon they'll be tearing it down.
This beach of the people,
This beach of all the people,
This beach will soon be gone
For a 1.000 unit complex right or wrong.
This town I grew up in this town.
This town soon they'll be tearing it down.
Imagine this town a tourist trap
This town a racist gap
This town hotels and sleaze
This town with drunk marines
This town I grew up in this town
This town soon they'll be tearing it down
How would you feel if someone stole the land,
The forest, the seas, the sand.
Religious puritans label you obscene.
Destroy your culture it's a capitalist dream.

Cringer - Take Back The Night II
Sisters
Pick up your sisters
Stand with your sisters
March with your sisters
And take back the night.
Men perpetuate the myths of before
With cheap magazines at the liquor store
Confirm their insecurity in sleazy theaters
Together we can take back our dignity.
---------
Cringer - Zen Flesh Zen Bones
Trapped in the back of my mind, is the thought too little too late.
So when I try to define, I tend to over-complicate.
When I'm told, again and again, 'that's just the way things go'.
It leaves a bitter taste with me, because I think that we should know.
But at this time, I would have guessed
that we could rise above the rest.
But at this time, I guess I know
there are things we still can't show.
Trapped in the back of our minds is a single ideology.
Yet we bicker and we battle about what it means to be free.
We never seem to have the courage to live the life we choose.
So we lost what we should have won, because our numbers are diffused.
But at this time, I would have guessed
that we could rise above the rest.
But at this time, I guess I know
there are things we still can't show.
Trapped in the back of my mind, trapped in the back of our minds.
Trapped in the back of my mind, trapped in the back of our minds.

There was a self-assembled sticker on his guitar.
It said: "overthrow cockrock and idolize your girlfriend".
That's the kind of guy we lost.
