It's been awhile since I've been around here, but the movie I just saw deserves my opinion posted.
I thought for a long time that the Japanese were the be-all, end-all when it comes to completely fucked up and disturbing films. Then the French bust out two monsters by the names of Inside and Frontier(s). Great movies. I highly recommend them.
And then there's this little movie by the name of Martyrs. I won't say what the plot is because, for one, I don't want to spoil anything. And secondly, I'm still reeling over what I've just witnessed... I can handle a lot. All the shit Takashi Miike pulls off, all the blood and guts KNB has to over. But I'll be fucking damned if this movie made me legitimately ill. But I could not look away. This flick is by far the most disturbing movie I've ever seen. But, coming from a technical standpoint, no matter how disturbing the subject matter or the images shown, it was beautiful in its own way. And the little gore hound in me did appreciate the quality of effects. But regardless...."What the fuck?!" is all I have to sum this all up. Go download it or whatever. Yes, it is hard to watch, but you gotta see it just for the experience.
