There Are Those BY: ME
There are those who find those of my age as naive.
We are thought of as naive and blind.
We don't know anything beyond what is right in front of us.
We refuse to grow up and refuse to see beyond what's in the mirror.
There are those of us who love beyond tomorrow.
We have thoughts that are like rainbows.
We have thoughts that are...
past what is expected.
Beyond the so called limited capacity of our contemplation.
I look at those who judge based on my youth.
I see those I yearn to learn from.
I see those who persist to tell me things, yet
assume that I refuse to listen.
I look at this image reflecting back at me.
I see those eyes, lips, nose and hair...
I see the young woman I am and also
the proud woman I yearn to be.
I see that body,
those curves that switch when I walk.
I see the sensual and sexual being that is me.
The way I part my lips and sigh
I know that I have the knowledge of what
can be done with those lips.
I see the eyes that shine and yearn for more.
There are those who look right through me
not past, not at, but through me.
As if I am only cellophane.
I have a voice that can reach mountain tops.
There are those who try to silence it.
There are those who find those of my age as naive.
We are thought of as naive and blind.
We don't know anything beyond what is right in front of us.
