Grim Fandango runs natively on WIn95, Win98, and WinME. If you're using WinXP (The latest version), you may have issues. Most can be solved by running the program in "Compatability Mode". Once the game is installed, it will put a shortcut icon on your desktop. Right click on the icon, go to "Properties" and the "Compatability" tab, and it will give you an option to run the game in Win95/Win98 Mode. There is also a patch available that fixes some minor bugs.
Check out GrimFandango.net... A fansite with lots of other technical help, as well as walkthroughs if you get stuck on a puzzle. You'll find links there as well to help forums, like the LucasArts one, where others have posted tips on what they did to get the game to run smoothly on WinXP if you have any issues.
There's a downloadable demo there as well, a good chunk of the beginning of the game. I assume if you can get THAT to run, you won't have any problem with the full game.
Good luck!
