Thought of the Day(Yesterday)
Power play-
What is the reason people play with power;
Is it for the thrill of taking on a new role:
Is it because people like seeing what they want happen:
Could it be be the desire to be controlled:
Is it something important to our psyches - Something that gives us an endorphin rush because its healthy for us to know change? To learn extremes in our lives so we can enjoy the simple things? Power is defined in my dictionary as:
1: Ability or Capacity to do something-
Power-play:
2: An attempt to gain an advantage by a display of strength or superiority, e.g. in a negotiation or relationship-
Power is having the confidence to gain an advantage by convincing people you should or already do have it. We like to give our power away to feel the imagined freedom of internal peace. People choose to give and take power because the believe its the right thing to do. They fear it might be the better choice or they hope that it is the best way to make things right.
At times people give or take power because they simply want the feeling it gives them. -There are times when people give or take power to make others happy; This is done as a love for the other person. It can also be done to ease tension by making the other happy. I have also seen people do this out of fear of disappointing others they respect or care for.
I believe power is easy to loose or gain because its how you hold yourself. Now holding power is harder then maintaining a state of powerlessness because people don't hold confidence for long. Now if this leads to overconfidence people can feel the insecurity with in this bravado.
