"A people that values its privileges above its principles soon loses both." - Dwight D. Eisenhower

I had an interview for New Media Publishing's magazine called Taste, I had to be at the Hyatt Hotel at 7:00 am this morning, any way Martha grilled me, I had forgotten to take my meds so I was really nervous and I rambled a bit and digressed a lot but the outcome was good as the sales manager is flying from Cape Town to Johannesburg tomorrow just to meet with me for an hour for the final interview, so it looks good. I am a little scared though as this it is a lot of work and I don't really have the experience, it'll be a great learning curve and I will be working on a beautiful magazine, it's the kind of magazine that literally makes your mouth water when you look at the photographs of the food, it's a yummy magazine!
I also had a humbling moment yesterday as a communications agency client requested to deal with some one else as she felt I had a bad attiitude, I was a little abrupt with her a couple times when she called me at quarter to five in the evening to ask me to phone her client on her behalf, she is the agency contact, she does the bloody media planning, so I got annoyed that she expected me to liaze with the client who I had no relationship with at the bloody end of the day as I am about to leave the office to go to gym!!! Anyway I learned that even if clients pester one constantly and insist on being molly coddled that one should rise above one's own personal frustration and be as diplomatic and professional as possible! Easier said than done but a necessary lesson any way!
I get very frustrated with ignorance and stupidity and I tend to get rather abrupt and sarcastic when that happens but as the quotes above suggest respect as well as living by principles are paramount in living a successfull life and lets face it emotional intelligence is essential in any client related context!
Okeeey...enough venting for now!!
