The Catcher in the Rye JD Salinger
LOVE IS Holden Caulfield! I adore this young man with all the agreeable passion in my frozen heart. I dont mind that hes quirky and somewhat isolated in his thoughts and somewhat negative about social interactions. When he starts dancing in the mens room at the beginning of this novel, he has already won me over five times as much than almost any other literary character to date. He reminds me so very much of my old best friend, its disturbing, I would hang out with him on the train with or without his hunting cap on :] Also, I freaking loved all the lingo in this book. When he describes how his little sister Phoebe loves her pjs as, stuff like that really knocks her out, I smile every time!!! I must have re-read multiple chapters in this book too many times because I feel like I am back in school analyzing everything for credit. The catcher in the rye sounds like a great job for young Holden, because I genuinely believe he could be perfectly happy, as neurotic as he is and as thoughtful as he is, to hold a position based soley on meticulously watching rye fields for stray children, only to save them from diving off the edge of the cliffs. Love love love this book forever and I really want to ride a carousel.
