Veronika Decides to Die by Paulo Coelho is a fantastic read. It starts with a 24yr old female who decides to end her life by taking a few packs of sleeping pills, because she wants to die in a feminine way; she plans out the entire scenario and after reading an ad in a neighboring magazine, she writes a suicide note saying she thinks its inexcusable that her tiny country is unrecognized by most people in the world. This is a tale of redemption, and a story of how she wakes up in a mental institution and is told she only has a week [or less] to live. Truly inspiring, many passages that I may never forget. Paulo has a great voice and explains the human condition fluidly along the journey of Veronika.
**mention: I grabbed this book off the top ten for Reagan, she seems to have the best reading list I've come across thus far....
