I figured this would be general knowledge on SG, but apparently not. Before anyone on here wants to talk to a goth girl, they should probably at least grasp this stuff.
So yes, the gothic pagan knows when Halloween is. That wasn't funny the first time I heard it in high school, and it sure isn't funny here in an environment that is supposed to be welcoming of alternative people. I've had people say that to me in person before physically attacking me or loudly harassing me in ways that threaten my safety. Saying harassing things to people for dressing goth should not at all be acceptable here. There's a person on here that probably knows they triggered this. To her I say this: I'm not mad at you, which is why I'm trying to educate people about why certain things are hurtful. You probably meant to indicate that my set was poorly timed, that it's clearly Halloween themed and should have been timed for October. Unfortunately, there's an assumption there that gothic people should only express themselves in one season, which happens to be eaten up by Christmas more and more every year. I'm going to theme sets around stuff I like, and since I'm goth, they'll all be "Halloween" themed in some way. If you don't like goths, there are thousands of girls and hopefuls on here who are not goth at all. But we belong here as much as any other alt subculture, and it's probably best not to say offensive things to an alt subgroup on an alt website.
