It has arrived!!!!! The opening season of Formula Drift and you best believe I got my coffee in hand and am enjoying the live feed of practice today!!!
Although, I will say with this news that arrived on Vaughn Gittin Jr.'s FB page, I am a bit beside myself about their decisions about 3rd place finishers...
"In an effort to speed up the show and put more emphasis on the finals, Formula Drift has announced that they will no longer have a battle for 3rd place. Rather than a tandem battle, qualifying will dictate who takes 3rd and 4th place."
^ that, right there, is appalling. To take away the final battle for 3rd and 4th place to simply cut down the time, as most drift events go pretty late (I've stuck around for the final battle myself around almost 10pm and had been there since noon.) I still think there would be a better way, such as maybe cutting down the number of people qualifying and battling it out that day. Either way sucks, I love to see everyone drift it out but I don't think it's right to hand off a 3rd place trophy to someone who had the highest qualifying points the day before regardless of how they preformed the day of the competition? How does that come out as fair? It's a hand off, an upset and an all around jip to the fans in my opinion.
Oh well, I will still be enjoying my all time favorite drifter Daijiro Yoshihara and counting down the days until the Evergreen event so I can get my drift fix in person and get to check out the newest cars added. :)
