So yesterday my oldest mini me turned 6 and it's hard to wrap my head around. By the way, yes I am a mom. And a damn good one at that.
My sons get to experience things most kids don't. Our family races. We race in pretty much anything that's available at the time. We've done everything from random dirt circle track races, open drift events, Global RallyCross, SCCA RallyCross, but the main sport in our family is full fledged stage rally.
This type of lifestyle has its perks and has its downsides. We don't get a lot of garage space and there is always a project. Our vacations typically are focused around races but, my kids know more about cars than most grown adults and my oldest will be more than happy to school people on what car they may be looking at.
And it isn't just my oldest, my youngest who is a year old also caught the car bug...
Being in a racing family can be stressful at times and it takes a special kind of person to be able to handle everything that comes with it. It takes a lot of strength, planning, extra planning when it doesn't go as planned and you gotta be just a tad crazy to make it all work.
And I can say, my family is indeed, crazy.
