August 2002 i left everything back home and joined the army. I left all my friends, my family, my baby pitbull to defend a country i thought at the time was worth dying for. I now have about 6 months left in the service and am thinking on what good has come from the military presence the last few year. After completing my basic training and advanced training i went to airborne school and was deployed to South Korea. Now don't get me wrong, Korea was fucking awesome, I mean my friends and I went out everynight and got totally fuckin wasted. After being there for a year my unit was deployed to Iraq. In Korea we were young, pure, and immortal. In Iraq we we lost the innocence. Friends died, soldiers lost arms and legs. This is where I contemplated my own mortality and knew what we as a society had become was wrong. Bush tells the press we are winning and we fight to stop terroism, but we are not winning and are we not the terrorist? We are sent into another country telling them how to live, we have no right to do such a thing. For people who are sacrificing for their country we are not repaid very well. My friends and I are living from pay day to pay day, a small $25k a year to work 12+ hours 7 days a week. I don't feel like fighting for everyone elses freedom just to have mine raped from me. Whatever we are really fighting for isnt worth my good friend Mike's life. He was an awesome friend who would never let a friend down, but now he is lost to the world and it sickens me that he died for nothing. I know their are military guys on here and some probably won't agree with this, so to you all I have to say is, you can waste your life in the military becasue you are scared of the civilan world or because you are so absent minded you need someone to tell you what to do 24/7, fuck you, this is my freedom of speech, and I can say what the fuck I want because I fought for it.

Amen brother! I totally feel you, that's why I worked hard to get chaptered out. I finaled out yesterday and I fly Friday and that was the smartest thing I have done while in the military! I totally agree with you and I just want to say thank you for doing a job I would not want to do and that's defend this miserable country! I'm glad you made it back safely, and yes, Korea rocked. I lived there for 2 years.
