So far, posting everyday on SG has been really cathartic. I have been enjoying just writing my thoughts without having the feeling of judgement.
Today, I began my new workout and diet regiment. As per my one of last posts, I have made it a goal to lose lose 60lbs. At 301lbs now and being at 6'9" I am already feeling pretty happy with myself, but the national guard demands are much more strict. The max I can weigh is 248lbs.
So today was simple...Today started my three day fast. Sure, some may think it's not the best way to start off losing weight by not eating, but after doing some research, I seriously want to try a 3 day fast, with 2 days off, then back to 3 days fasting, and 2 days off....that sort of cycle. The days I fast, I will only being drinking water.
Now as far as lifting and exercising is concerned, I have a regiment of lifting that I adhere to on my days when I am off the fast. Nothing heavy at all, as I don't want to gain a ton of muscle mass and be counter productive. The lifting will be a collection of upper body exercises at a low impact, but high enough reps to make the muscles sore.
The lower body will be situated around my waist and back, so a lot of back extensions and sittups and planks. I wont use any specific leg machines because my legs are already very strong and I don't need to make my legs massively.....again....it would be counter productive.
Military specific training will include a lot of sittups, pushups and running. As part of the APF Test, to be safe, I need to do 50 pushups under 2 minutes, 50 sittups under 2 minutes and run 2 miles in under 16 minutes. That is good passing grade for the last part of basic. If I can do that before I go in, I am told be friends of mine who currently and/or previously served, then physically I will be in a much better state then most.
So today I did some sittups, like 2 pushups and then decided to just stretch and make my body a lot more flexible. This whole not eating thing so far has been actually OK....I keep looking at my goals that I wrote down and that really helps me to focus.
In other news....It's been tough booking some shows out of town here...Pittsburgh has been a tough area to setup, and so has Philly. I need to find some Pittsbugh and Philadelphia local hardcore bands to link up with and do some shows. If you know of any that you think would great with Meet At Sundown please let me know!
Anyways, I will put up some photos this week.
Highlights of the Day:
Band/Song - Rise Against/Make It Stop (Septembers Children)
Article - The Letter that started "2001: A Space Odyssey"
Quote: Men who fear demons see demons everywhere. - Brom, The Child Thief
And this song and video really means a lot to me.
