So today marked the first day of my second job.
Wow. Two jobs. I hope I can pull this one off. I kinda failed the last time, but then again, I was also throwing school into the mix. That's not the case this time.
Wait! I should tell you about yesterday, shouldn't I? Okay. Got to work at noon. Spent my time polishing glasses, bussing, serving coffee and water, washing dishes and closing the cafe with the owner. I got home around 3:45...and aside from my back hurting from being hunched over a sink for an hour and a half, I felt great. Excellent. I love working. Hell, I even got $10 and a really big cookie out of the deal. Had to wash my hands twice, that cookie was so greasy. It was nummy.
Okay, now for today. Got up around 2 after being up until four or five, got ready for work and left the house at about 2:45. Got to Off Limits at 3 on the dot, clocked in and did....nothing. Seriously, I basically sat on my ass for six hours because hardly anyone came in.
I should tell you NOW that in this store, I work the back room selling porn, sex toys, bongs, pipes, and smoke shit (papers, ect.). Yes, I get paid $8/hour to do that. (That's why Jenna Jameson is muih biatch!) But, since the Sonoma Co. Fair is going on, the store was kinda dead cause the horny college kids were going to the Ferris Wheel. I still made a good bit o' cash...mainly in pipe sales. Okay, so I did do a bit of productive shit. Like labeling the video shelves (anal, fetishes, bi, blowjobs, ect.). And I sold some of the other stuff we have on the main floor, like hardware, incense, ect. It got kinda boring though, just sitting there, waiting for some random joe to come in and buy something.
But I learned how to close out the registers and shit. I was on from 3 to close, and work the same shift tomorrow.
So, that ends that and here I am at home, chillin'. And y'know what? I feel pretty damn good. Why? Cause my life is finally coming back together. I'm putting it back together. There's no drama, no one's trying to take over or dictate my life to me anymore. It's...a relief, actually. Since moving up here to Petaluma, I've found that the people that I'm coming to associate with are real, genuine. They're not a bunch of fucking scene kids trying desperately to warp me into their sense of living so they feel less alone and don't feel bad for associating with someone who doesn't want to live like them. They're not a bunch of people who are partying all the time with no consideration for other people's schedules, time, space, or financial situations. They're 9 to 5'ers, sometimes with two jobs, who just like to hang out after work and chill out, or maybe go out with friends once or twice a week. They have consideration for people's lives, feelings, and indiviuality.
Suddenly, the urge to move to the East Bay has become less intense.
I think I'll like it up here.
