I do feel sorry for people who think the only thing they have to offer is their sex. But that doesn't excuse USING a very real sexuality to sell make yourself seem more attractive to men. When women continue to perpetuate the idea that bisexual girls are bi for the pleasure of men and not "serious", they harm the queer rights movement. And I do not forgive them for that. The people on scripted TV shows are actresses...often the people on dating shows are wannabe actresses or models. So they either ARE actually okay with using their sexuality to please an asshole (for example being TOLD to make out by a guy on the show and doing it for him...when instead they should be punching him in the gut for being such an ass) or they are acting and are perfectly aware of the stereotypes they are using to make the show "interesting". And the producers are as much to blame, for exploiting a sexuality to sell their product.

I'm sorry but your last post in the Fashion group was hard to read and understand. So what is your point exactly? That Hot Topic and other such stores have turned underground subcultures into a marketable fashion, correct? I don't think I was disagreeing with you on this point. I was merely stating that these sorts of things are inevitable. That the cool things are always underground, then corporations get a hold of it and change it to appeal to the mass market. Then we (being the "cool" underground hipsters?) get all pissed, knocking everything that comes from said stores/music labels/magazines. I just don't waste my time getting pissed about it. I don't shop at HT but I don't care if someone does; I don't care if bands copy hardcore sounds, and I don't care if the music I like becomes fashionable. It doesn't change my life because the bands I like are still playing clubs, the stores I shop at are still owned by local families, and the zines I read are still independent. See what I'm saying?

I don't like the idea that one shouldn't write about scary aspects of the world without having some positive thing involved. There are things that happen in the world that are horrible and scary and are NEVER resolved. People should be able to write about these things.
So instead of "where does the picture stop and the subject start", I want those two things to be intertwined by nature.
