So I figure that its a good time for me to post a substantive entry, simply because I'll probably not have much of an opportunity in the coming holiday season.
Things I hate about Christmas:
1) The fact that it is a religous holiday that has been "secularized" by normative, colonial discourse.
2) Those old time shitty holiday songs all the freaking malls play
3) It marks the end of Autumn reminding me that this winter is going to be one fucking bitch of a time
4) The television station airs that stupid channel with the fireplace that plays christmas songs (how fucking dumb).
5) I usually gain weight.
Things I absolutely LOVE about Christmas:
1) My mother cooks and I eat. Holiday food is the best.
2) Family. I rarely get to spend as much time with my family as I do during the holidays. Its kinda nice.
3) Everyone is nicer around holiday time. People are more pleasent (except those of you in retail, but I understand completely) and genuinely feel goodwill toward fellow mankind. If only it was an all-year thing, but some is better than none.
4) Christmas cookies. Food again, but hey, its worth mentioning twice. Maybe that's why I ususally gain weight
5) Presents rock. Not that I'm materialistic, but I'm a greedy whore. I like stuff, and stuff is so much nicer when its from people who love you and has no strings attached.
I hope all of you have a happy, safe holiday seasons.
