Hi SG - world! Is there anybody has a deal with mild depression?

I went psychotherapists last week. It was my first time. She gaves me a ricept for a few drugs.

But for a second session of therapy was weird. I always thought that psychotherapists should listen to you and ask about something. But I had listened her 30 minutes of my session. She said that I need to change my life right now 'cause after 2 years will be too late šŸ˜¬ if someone will go to her at 40y. o. will she say "I'm sorry I can't help its too late"?

Also she said I need to think about my future find a good men and get married šŸ™ƒ so I feel like I visit my grandmother, but also spent 40$ per hour.

Now I'm trying to find another doctor šŸ™ƒ

What about your experience of therapy or something?

You definitely need a different doctor.Ā  Shrinks often have very useful insights, and so are worth listening to - but always with half an ear tuned to whether they've been listening to you.Ā  Clearly this one isn't, and is instead more interested in imposing a standardized solution she's already decided on, which is never good therapy.Ā  There's a reason they also call it analysis, and this chick hasn't analyzed shit.Ā  Get someone who will.

I've been dealing with dysthymia since I was a teenager. For years, tried many therapist with poor results. Even more, in most cases I abandoned therapy because I really felt uncomfortable. I think it's normal to feel that, it's like when you get a boyfriend or a girlfriend, you need to find the right one. Have in mind that your therapist is a human being and everyone has its own personality and you won't have the same chemistry with each one.
