So this weeks blog homework from @lyxzen @missy && @rambo is "What is the scariest thing that has ever happened to you?"
Now I don't really know if this homework is just for the SGs and Hopefuls or if it's for everyone. But I'm going to be doing them weekly anyway. I can't say I'm too experienced at doing any blogs, so this seems like a great way for me to express some thoughts and feelings.
Anyway, I used to be a member on here many moons ago. But as you'll soon come to find out why, I have been absent from this site for about a year and a half now. So the account is new.
To get to the point of this blog, the scariest thing that ever happened to me was my arrest on 06/21/14. It also happens to be my greatest blessing in life.
Since April of '08 I was a pretty hardcore junkie. Mostly opiates, but I wasn't picky. After a few years, I ended up 'graduating' from pills such as Perks and Roxys, I tried heroin. For times sake, I was arrested for a three-county wide spree of burglaries and ended up doing almost 16 months prison time after it all, or at least most of it, caught up to me.
That day reality started setting in. After a few more days of detox in jail I realized that I won't be coming home anytime too soon. While jail itself was more or less of a joke to me, the scary part was that I wasn't home anymore, I had a beautiful six month old daughter, and the life I was living now affected much more than just mine.
Now I've been home for coming on a month, and Ive started to actually bond with my daughter, who is about a month away from her second birthday. I'm still completelysober, not even a beer, while I may have started smoking cigarettes again. I've got a full time job as a cook at this local Italian restaurant. And life gets better.
While the actual day if the arrest was the scariest thing that has ever happened to me, I still couldn't be more thankful that it did happen. It's what I needed in my life. So I'm not too sure if this is what the assignment was about completely or if it's what I'm supposed to do, but I hope at least someone can take something from this life story of mine.
So until next week, catch me on IG - AVP713
