Here are the rankings from 1 to 10, 10 being the highest, of the concert I went to tonight.
Shai Hulud = 10, this was their last show with the current singer and they tore shit up like no tomorrow. They also have one of the geekiest names in all of hardcore. I remember back when I first heard of them, I was like, "Shai Hulud? Like the name of the god-worm from the Dune books? AWESOME!" Honestly, I think their name is even geekier and much more obscure than Evergreen Terrace, though that one's right up there. Big ups for geeky names.
18 Visions = 6, as much as they rocked, they didn't really seem into it, they played and then got off the stage with nary so much as a word. They were better when they opened for Lamb of God by far.
Further Seems Forever = -4, these guys suck ass. Don't ever see them. The only reason they didn't get a -10 is because they did a cool cover of some shit ass Bjrk song.
The Dillinger Escape Plan = 10000000000000, holy fuck ass. The new singer kicks SERIOUS ass, not to mention that their show was fucking amazing. My senses have never been so assaulted. Their live show is now what Slayer was back in the day. Absolutely amazing. Did I say that they kicked ass? Well they did. This was my first Dillinger show but most definitely not my last. I'll be seeing them when they play with Ol' Dirty Bastard in October.
Poison the Well = ?, I didn't stay for Poison the Well because I felt like throwing up all over the crowd. But, to give them a fair score, I give them a 10 based on the time I saw them about a month ago with Candiria at CBGB's. They rock and you know it. This new album is right up there with Opposite of December and much better than Tear From the Red.
On the whole, I give the show a 9. Go see it when it comes around to you.
