So, tomorrow my dad and I go to New Orleans. I hope hope hope there's no damage to my place, but I haven't been able to get in contact with my landlord all month so I have no idea on that score. Regardless, the primary purpose of the trip will be to collect my belongings, putting them in 30-gallon plastic bins, then driving back to Tennessee.
And the cats. *worry*
Unrelatedly, Rob Dickinson (the lead singer from the late, great Catherine Wheel, a band I dearly love but whom has sadly disbanded) has a new solo album out. It's nice and CW-feely, and I rather like it. Even if the lyrics are a little hokey. But hey, it's the first output from a CW member since their last album in 2000.
Also, I'm in love with the wholly obscure British metal band Queen Adreena. I went music shopping today to get some stuff to listen to on the way down to NO (since the stuff in my car has been getting pretty tired with nothing else to listen to), but none of the three record stores I went to had a single QA release. Typical. All their recordings have thus far been UK-only affairs. They're not even on iTunes, but I managed to find all three of their albums on ed2k. Mmm sexy. I wonder how my dad will react when I play QA in the car tomorrow and she's singing "please, fuck me, baby, please, fuck me, baby..." Shrug, I'm a perv. But you probably already knew that.
I was so impressed with QA that I gave them a Wikipedia entry, since there's already a writeup for them at E2 (not a very good one; I'll probably supersede it soon (I'm a content editor there, btw. In case you were curious.)).
I watched the first four episodes of "Lost" this morning, and holy shit is it good. I'm addicted. Got 20 more episodes in the season 1 DVD set before I can watch it on TV, by which time season 2 will probably be out on DVD anyway. I picked up Nick Cave's "The Videos" DVD today, too, and damn, the video for "Into My Arms" is like suicidal ideation put into motion picture format. It consists only of Nick singing, and other people crying, all in glorious, stark black and white. If I were religious, I'd want that song played at my funeral.
Anyway, I hope to get through tomorrow with a minimum of crying, myself.
