they cover up cuts and scrapes and make the healing process more comfortable to deal with...
but eventually the adhesive weakens,
the corners lift and peel...
and though it's degraded a bit and not as functional as when you first put it on...
it sticks to the skin and is still painful to remove
and you're left with a grimy, sticky residue around the wound you were trying to protect...

but they keep the cut clean too. as far as the residue - its best to chew that off.... as well as the scab.
