Isis - Oceanic. The Beginning and the End.
i actually was flipping through a book at the library soon after getting that particular cd...in the "ocean" section, i guess you could say...since at the time i was writing an album about similar ideas, and delving into the meanings no doubt in the Isis album. well i came upon a book, "The Sea Around Us" by Rachel Carlson. flipping through it, it seemed interesting, from the 50's/60's. and as i always do, i read the last paragraph of the last page. and this is the last sentence:
For all at last returns to the sea - to Oceanus, the ocean river, like the everflowing stream of time, the beginning and the end.
so i'm a little curious as to if maybe the singer/band did research of their own and came across the same quote by similar means, and that's where they got the song title, or if it's just a coincidence (seeing as how that phrase isn't exactly rare)
yeah, that happened a year or so ago. old news. just thought i'd relate. it's a good quote either way. and a good book, the author has much respect for nature, and that is certainly admirable to me. anyway, good book. great album. great band. (notice the hoodie in my profile picture) go read my opendiary stuff. like, now. go. criticize, enjoy, whatever. i like sharing. so go read.
