What a fun trip! We ate like kings, slept as much as we wanted, had glorious sex whenever we pleased, I'd say it was a successful vacation. It rained a lot and was quite chilly, but we managed to stay warm most of the time. And despite early concerns, it went very smoothly. Here are the highlights:
Wednesday. We arrived around 7pm and met Ivan and Cat at the airport. Ivan's house is way up in the hills on a large patch of land. It's one of those houses that has rooms in strange places and more stuff than I've ever seen in a home. The fridge was fully stocked with everything we could ever want. We relaxed for a bit, exchanged x-mas presents (Thank you, Ivan, I love my gifts!), and then went out. Ivan's best friend Brian was throwing a party at his place. LOADS of fun. Got hit on by a couple of beautiful women, much to Ryan's annoyance. Strangely got drunk off of two drinks, which I'm attributing to the altitude. Went home, passed out.
Thursday. Ivan showed us around all the cute stored of Eugene. I indulged in a Chai Milkshake. YUM YUM YUM! Bought a small gift for Steph E and a new collar. Home to Ivan's for salmon, potatoes, and salad. Watched Dawn of the Dead before bed.
Friday. New Year's Eve. The BEST day of the trip. We drove down to the coast for the day, all bundled up against the cold. Once there, we decided to visit the Sea Lion Cave, which is the only such cave on the US Mainland, and one of the largest sea caves in the world. It was STUNNING. And I can still hear the sound of 150+ sea lions roaring together. It was one of the neatest places I've ever seen. And the Oregon coast is beautiful....cold, wild, untamed. This is not an ocean meant for humans. Afterward, we walked around a small town on the river that reminded me a bit of New Hope, minus the paganish bit. Got my parents salt water taffy and ate lunch at Mo's, held up on stilts on the water. Had a Slumgullion Cannonball, which is a large bread bowl filled with world renowned clam chowder and fresh shrimp. It was DELICIOUS. Back to Ivan's after that. We all decided we were too knackered to go partying, so we stayed in. Lynn, Ivan's Mom, is a massage therapist, and she helped me bring in the new year with a (hopefully) fixed shoulder. I'm hoping and praying that she really did help. Champagne at midnight, watched New Year's broadcasts, then cuddled up in bed.
Saturday. Slept in LATE. Sun came out for a bit, so Ivan and I went exploring his land. Very pretty. All the trees are COATED in moss. After that, we went to dinner at Ivan's grandparents' house. Stayed up most of the night killing time and fooling around, then caught a 5:20am flight home.
All in all, a great time was had by all. Will post some photos soon.
