I finally get to go home to see the family. Something about a little downtime with the parents is so re-energizing. I always come back buzzed with energy and tend to have brief periods of uncharacteristic productivity.
Suppose I'm lucky to have a family I actually get along with; so many people don't.
Not that we didn't have our rough years. I just mellowed out a lot, with age, and I suppose my parents and I are more tolerant of each other. Oh, and not living in the same house makes a huge difference. I mean, most people move out at about 18. Now, who would've chosen the individuals who happen to be one's parents as roommates as a young adult? And what middle-aged couple wants to live with a 20something? Even if it IS their child.
On a sad note, on the way to the parents' house, I have to stop by the NC State vet school and pick up my kitty, Sid, who was either attacked by something or hit by a car. Poor little guy. He's such a chill cat. Hope he's going to be feeling better soon.....
