The place where the deal went down, Edison station on the NEC line.
Sunday is a dead day for the rail roads and made perfect sense to meet in a public place but without massive amounts of people.
I really love what they did with this small station a few years ago , most of the time when something public gets re-built its always cheap and to the point with $ the over riding factor .
but this time they did it right -before the great economic collapse .
As I rode through Camp Kilmer and Stelton a chilling thought came to mind
- I was walking into a trap! perhaps a set up by some gross fat donut eating undercover cop
hoping to score enough brownie points for a pay raise or maybe just to keep his job..
Why did I tell him I would be in a green car? Stupid me.
The station has this nice mosaic tile work all around it, birds & trees of the area.
you would think it was from the early 1900s and not the early 2000s.
I got there before noon so I could look around - see if I could spot any undercover cops - play the tourist with camera angle
talk about weird-Os ?
some family guy came up to me rambling about parking and then changed back into Egypt spoken -noise- like I was going to understand him? he got kind of mad (just going by his face) that I didn't know what he was talking about.
nice stained glass above the doorways to the North Bound platform ,
on the left or South is a 'Princeton' window and right or North is a 'Newark'
the parking lot side also has stained glass windows but they are Edison quotes and children/race stuff that will send a note to travelers coming and going - maybe next time if the light is in the East I'll take them.
I never use the Edison station when going to NYC, I use New Brunswick and hope to catch the express that might save 20 min. you cant get the express from Edison. but I could ride my bike to this station and ride home like 5 :30 am like some crazy spaced out Vampire racing the sunrise.......
Anyway after seeing the coast was clear I found my contact - checked out the merchandise & rolled out some cash. the score you ask???
three 27" bicycle wheels one front and two rears, one of the rears had a Regina freewheel made in Italy while the other had an early Shimano freewheel. all 3 ran true with a spin of the axle . he also tossed in three good K-36 Kenda tires - all for $30 bucks- best money spent all week , well almost
