I don't cook often, or maybe at all. My favorite meal is PB&J and I use a rice cooker to cook my rice. When I read about this weeks blog assignment from @missy @rambo and @charmaine I had to really think about it.
The one thing I make that I couldn't live without is my mac and cheese. I don't use a box and I actually bake it. I will try my best to give a recipe since my mom taught me with "a pinch" of this and "to taste." Here we go.
Ingredients -
Pasta (I prefer bow tie)
Colby Jack Cheese
Milk
Flower
Bread Crumbs
Butter
To prepare - Cook pasta per instruction on box/bag. Do not rinse in water once it's done and cooling, you want the cheese to stick. Preheat oven to 400. Grate your cheese.
Warm a pot and melt 3-4 tablespoons of butter. Once melted, toss in a few pinches of flour while stirring. The consistency should be paste like. Once you've gotten all the chunks to smooth out, pour half a cup of milk in while continuing to stir. Toss in your cheese as desired. I use A LOT because I like my Mac and cheese extra cheesy. If you prefer it creamy, add more milk and or butter. Once you have the consistency you prefer throw in the pasta and stir until all pasta is covered in your cheese sauce. Empty your pot of macaron into a cake pan and distribute evenly. Lay a thin layer of bread crumbs to the top of the pasta. Bake for 10 minutes, or until slightly browned. Remove from oven and let cool.
I normally steam some fresh broccoli to have with my mac n cheese. I think it's a great combo. I hope that made some sense! Sorry I'm not a master chef. I eat like a kid. Ha
