Yo. So, um, the game idea that I've been chipping and hacking away at for Disney for the past 4 months. Yeah, so... it got the first approval for production by the Greenlight Comittee. I've never felt this sense of accomplishment before...and I guess I've never tried for something so long before, and therefore never had this kind of reward.
A little disconcerting is that I'm not given a 100% guarantee that my name will appear in any credits if it is produced...the explanation being that after the real development company gets it's hands on the concept there no saying if even 10% of my original idea will survive, therefore making it difficult to justify how much credit to give to me. But I'm pretty sure my name will end up somewhere, and that's enough for me.
The other question I get is will I get any proceeds from sales if the game is produced. The answer is no, I'm just an intern, this is my job. But this is how the world spins. The internship is well paid, we are given so much freedom and many opportunities, there is no reason to complain. This experience on my resume will hopefully get me far, and that paired with my wage, is good enough for me.
It's not going to be made for certain yet. It got the first thumbs up, now it's handed to the development team and they perfect it to the point where they have the detailed blueprints for a game. Then they present this improved version to the Greenlight Comittee again, and if given a second thumbs up, it will be produced.
Im going to go have a celebratory beer. Cheers!
Woah, A picture of me. How'd that get there?
