Oh happy day! I could cry with joy, I went to the ubercool comic book store a couple blocks away and discovered that......so happy........they have started renting foreign, independent, and otherwise hard to find films!!! Yaaay! There were so many strange and unusual films I didn't know where to start. I finally chose "les carabiniers" by Jean-Luc Godard, and some anime whose English title I'm not sure of, but I had started to watch long ago and thought was a kick in the pants.
I also had the very knowledgeable owner of this very urban artsy hip little shop help me track down some Warren Ellis, which I decided to put on hold so that I can pick up a series called "Fables" instead. It should be fun, it's about a world where the characters of fables live together. I also picked up an issue of Demo, and was very glad I did. These issues are stories that stand alone, each one is simple, familiar, but very thought provoking. The art was beautiful in this issue, a very loose manga-like style of drawing. I'm very glad to have discovered it. Thanks, Brian.
I was also very thrilled to discover an awesome feature of this shop: MJ, the lanky kitten. Hmmm, I wonder what MJ stands for? I'm so glad to have some quality kitten time because I've been craving one for so long but I can't really get one right now.
It was a beautiful day and I sat in my comfy outdoor chair beneath the avocado tree and soaked in the delicately warm early Spring air while the sky turned pastel and sweet smells rose from blossoming flowers. I'm so glad it's Spring.
Anyone out there thinking of going to the Prom?
