The second official gig of The Brash Punks was tonight at a birthday party in Santa Cruz.
We rocked the house once again with our youthful rendering of Roma, Serbian, and Greek Brass Band classics.
Here's the melody section. Myself on sax, my brother Alex on trumpet, and my little sister Lacey on clarinet.
And here's our sousaphone player Evan (who played electric bass at the first gig) and my other little sister Joelle on snare and cymbal.
Not pictured are my dad on tapan (a huge Bulgarian drum), my mother on keyboards, and our special guest on baritone horn.
It was tons of fun and I am way exhausted, but days like this you wish would never end, so I am here on SG and it's almost 5AM. I guess the Super Bowl is today, but I'll only end up watching it if my dad does.
I had a conversation with my mother this evening and I noticed that when I talk with people for a long time, often both participants in the conversation will drift toward a topic that interests them. For me, it's music or well, myself (my own personal growth or whatever) and for my mom, it's languages and travel.
What is the topic that you always find yourself eager to talk about?

There's nobody I'd rather chat with at 5AM than emilyrocks. I guess kthx was right when she quipped, "cingular kids are the cool kids"
