I think I love surgery.
I know this is a silly thing to say, because when I'm older (hopefully not sooner), surgery will be really serious stuff like quadruple-bypasses and such, but me age 24 thinks that surgery is so cool.
There's just something awesome about laying on your stomach, knowing that a guy is cutting a hole in your back and removing a lump of something benign and the whole time, you can just barely feel it. I started out the surgery and when they got the local anaesthesia in me, I ended up being a bit more relaxed, but then I got so excited that I just talked and talked to the guy checking out my stats (I LOVE those things they put on your finger to read your oxygen levels and such) and the guy had this great greying goatee and definitely had the whole asian martial arts guy thing going on. I was telling him about music while I could vaguely feel my back getting stitched up and covered up in gauze.
It's great being around the hospital and eavesdropping on the conversations of the nurses and just having a ton of fun as you are wheeled around the place, narrowly avoiding people and objects.
I even got to keep my boxers on!
The only thing that is never that fun is recovery. While I love going in and then knowing I will come out different, sometimes I am impatient for things to heal.
PS I look sexy in those shower cap things. Trust me.

for me the most fun thing about surgury (does getting wisdom teeth out count?) was getting them to put the anesthetic in real slow. the guy even paused a few seconds for me - felt great like an e coming on, but stronger. wicked.
Then I had 2 weeks on a liquid diet and full on mouth pain...
