This is my daughter Alejandra (Alex) at age 10 (I think). This is also after a haircut. Her hair was to the floor when she had it cut.
She came to me one day when she was, perhaps, in the fifth or sixth grade. She asked me if she could donate her hair. I asked her why. She told me that she had a a classmate that had lost his hair due to cancer. I spoke with my wife and we agreed that she could do it. We took her to a local shop that knew about the program my daughter had discussed and they spoke with Alex. She agreed with the 10 inch minimum (and we were pleased that she asked for no more). So since that day (Until recently), we would take Alex to the shop every time her hair reached the floor. That was the routine until last year when Alex started to complain of frequent headaches. We took her to the doctor and she suggested cutting her hair. She added that Alex had very thick and heavy hair. Such hair, she claimed, had been connected to several symptoms, headaches among them. We discussed the issue and decided (with alex) that a different haircut was needed. Alex chose to donate it, of course. And she hasn't had a headache since.
