You dont have to say you love me just because you can, you dont have to stay forever darling I will understand the ideas of love have been explored by a great number of individuals from all walks of life for a great number of years. Ideas concerning other emotions have also had their fair share of scrutiny such as sorrow, pride and hate yet rarely have their relationship to groups or between individuals has been accurately examined. This paper will examine how individuals use emotions in relation to things and people.
Well begin with love since love is both the most study emotion and the one this paper opened with. Love at times can be most displayed and most taken advantage of, if you ever walk down a park you can find the most commonly practiced display in the form of young couples embracing each other whether by behind trees or on the parks benches. More unconventional displays of love is for that of items like art work or fine cigars, since they can bring out satisfaction in a person that two people together would find difficult. I define it as such because when a person develops a relationship with an object its one way letting the person feel good without consequences or any and effect to others, though its good to have such escapes if left unchecked it can be unhealthy. Another aspect of love is the classic marriage and family, though now a family isnt necessarily a sign of marriage, sometimes a couple will decide on having children even staying together but rather not marry whether for religious reasons or just seeing the institution as unnecessary for commitment or those who get marry and choose not to have children.
We now turn to a bi-product of love that could be found in many facets of life especially in reference to patriotism and issues of race, Im speaking of pride. Prides unique in how it gives the masses euphoria and acceptance at any given moment. Its the only emotion that dedicates itself to parades and movements (such as black power, solidarity and gay liberation) and has shown itself to be both an impact and danger. One plain example is the white nationalist or white power movement which advocates both segregation and extermination of non whites and the handicap although protected by the first amendment must still be put in check if not taken care of. Another less extreme example(s) can be found in pride movements, in June parades are thrown across the country for the homosexual community, like all parades they have floats and people marching down but at these events youll find muscle bound males in Speedos and drag queens displaying overt sings of sexuality. At times couples bring their children to see the days event and try to pass it off as normal, Im no bigot but tolerance is no rational for bad taste and trashy behavior. Another target is the Hispanic community back in 2002 New York had its annual Puerto Rican Day parade somehow in during the festivities riots broke out and a women was raped. This was an out right shame and travesty on a community that gone through so much and still has a long way to go. At the same time theres many things for Hispanics, Blacks and Homosexuals to be proud of; politicians like Barney Frank and Iris Martinez and writers such as Langston Hughes and Christopher Isherwood and scientists like George Washington Carver their achievements can out shine any down points or shames brought about by others.
Lastly we examine hate and sorrow, sorrow is a reaction from things we cant control for instance the death of someone close to us or illness. Sometimes someone in sorrow is best left alone till theyve come to terms with it while others will be in need of someone to help them and tell them itll be alright. Hate on the other hand is some that can rage from a dislike of something (i.e. I hate peas) or something extreme like hatred for an ethnic group or race which can lead to horrid consequences. In the past century, many a conflicts have been fought over racial superiority and hate just as many conflicts have been fought and struggled for the elimination of hate. Hate can also lead to sorrow, for instance if your brother was shot by a gang member and he gets off on circumstantial evidence, you have sorrow for the lost of your brother and hate for his killer and a want to avenge him. Itll become difficult since even though youd want justice society will condemn you for violating the Rule of Law although men make and interpret the law vengeance must be done with caution in order to avoid societal repercussion.
In the end emotions are as powerful as we the public make them, not say that we must feel nothing but rather to display our emotions responsibly.
