augh! so: the fantastic xie dreaded my hair about... it's been a little over a week now, i guess. we bought this nice long-handled metal comb to do it - a flea comb for grooming dogs, technically, but exactly what the job required. very sturdy, gave good conrol and force for some serious backcombing (though like i said, xie's really the one with the inside scoop on that).
but yeah - last saturday i futzed around re-tightening dreads that had loosened and crocheting the roots and such. it was nice - afterwards my hair looked really spiff, with the dreads having had a week to tighten up a bit and having just been groomed and all.
tonight they were starting to look a bit messy again, so i went to tighten them some more and the teeth of the flea comb bent.
not just a little, either... i'd been making do with the odd bent tine, pushing it back into place and going on, but now whole sections of teeth are bending, enough so that it's clear i need to get myself a brand new comb.
all i can say is: damn.
i'd be more annoyed if it wasn't so impressive. and more impressed if it wasn't so annoying.
