so...
the weekend of programming: we set out to make a video game. it was a two-day programming lock-in with seven people. pretty cool. the thing is, i didn't really get to put on my programming hat at all because i'm a frigging flash scripter (with the whole scripter vs. programmer inferiority complex to boot). i've only got enough of a background in c++ to be dangerous, not enough to do much of anything, especially in the company of those who do. so i was multimedia/graphics guru, but you know that's not the same. i still got plenty of respect, though, which was nice. since everybody else besides me (including fatespawn) had been in a competitive programming team together in high school, i was a bit wary, especially also coming in as the only girl (girlfriend of one of the guys, even) and the only person in a non-programming role. everybody was really nice, though and it was comfortable. i still burn to get together a bunch of actionscripters more than ever. geh!

THE VISIT HOME
Cast of Characters:
The Me

The Brother who has grown Tall and seemes to be a Cool Guy but is also still Lazy
The Sister who is the Youngest and is a Size 0 and needs more Attention but seeks in it Negative Ways like stealing from the Sister Xie and who also is Still Lazy
The Father
The Mother
i'll detail these crazy characters later... suffice it to say that it was a strange week. in some ways i don't think i spent my time at home well - i've become accustomed to basically waiting out the time i have to spend at home. lots of sleeping, lots of movie watching, lots of reading random magazines. but lately i've finally begun to realize just how much i miss my people when i'm away... it's hard, because in a lot of ways i don't really know my little brother and sister all that well anymore, and i'm still pissed off at my parents for loads of reasons, and i worry sometimes about splitting my attentions between fatespawn and xie - they're quite literally my two favorite people in the world and i want to balance that somehow. i don't want to neglect either of them even a tiny bit. it makes me sad that i can't think about living long term with either one of them without wishing that the other could be there too. but all three of us living together would have its awkwardnesses. plus, xie's got her own life, and i can never tell if i'm being selfish to want to get to live with her. my entirely selfish solution to the problem is to become a mad scientist and merge the two of them, but that wouldn't work out right either, and would make me sad in the end. it worries me, especially because xie and we are going to need to live together if we're going to share the full-size arcade game of Sinistar that we've been planning to jointly steal away from our parent's house for a long time.
but yeah - more later.

I kinda thought it was in the union rules somewhere.
