an industrial revolution of the emotions...
this book i've been reading called "software for your head" (by jim and michele mccarthy, in case you're spontaneously inspired to check out a copy) has been bothering me an abnormal amount. some of it's the good and useful "wow... what do i actually believe?" and "hm, why do i agree/disagree with that?" kind of botherment, but there's also some stuff in there that distresses me without any clear cause and in ways i wouldn't expect. that is to say, it chills me, which is a pretty strong reaction.
so i'm trying to figure out which concepts exactly are the ones that i find chilling, and why. i'm going to have to read back over the whole frigging book. i want to figure out specific instances and statements written in the book that set off warning bells in my mind, and also retrace my thoughts as i read to figure out where the reasoning of the book evoked further ideas that, while not explicitly a part of the authors' work or even their opinions, still provoked me strongly and thus should help me shed some light on my own beliefs.
in other news - found poetry:
ants crawl in to eat/ crawl away to die.
it's like a haiku with no middle.
