*** the day of my last post i was really twitchy all day - as in have-a-slight-nevous-tic-in-the-eye-on-and-off-all-day twitchy, and my jaws felt tired from being unconsciously clenched. i'm really bad with scary movies, but i had a hard time watching the green mile that evening, and that's just frigging shameful. later tried to figure out why so much twitchiness would be... i think it's because fatespawn and i had watched memento the night before. that movie really gets to me, more so than i tend to realize right away. it hits upon a lot of the issues that scare me most. i was a weird kid - in 6th grade existentialist dilemmas and fear of the loss of identity literally used to keep me up at night. i think now i just try not to think about it even when it comes to mind - hence twitchiness. the movie also definitely deals with the ability to manipulate oneself, to control one's further actions. stuff like that apparently makes me twitch unnaturally much.
*** found a really cool caterpillar on the sidewalk while walking home from work the other day. one of my coworkers had just so happened to lend me her insect identification field guide to take home with me that same day. coolness! the caterpillar is staying with us now, as the last time i found a caterpillar and set it free again, i found it smushed on the pavement two days later (the smushed one was a fantastically big juicy-green caterpillar too [looks like it was a lunar moth caterpillar according to the field guide] which mnade it all the sadder... i have never seen a prettier caterpillar). this new caterpillar is black with tiny yellow speckles all over and these marvelously intimidating-looking branching spines. he likes to eat oak leaves. he is so cool.
*** my name has now been added to the office tag thing. everybody's got jokey names on it, and i've been put down as "Laura Loudmouth, ChocolateCon." apparently chocolateCon is the name of a song? sounds more like some kind of big convention to me, but hey.
and bah for me being so very quiet.
*** have been finding quite a few web developers who speak in the "royal we." apparently it is not so unusual. it is a comfortableness and a coolness to boot, i agree.
*** speaking of which, am beginning to think in earnest about new website for self. am definitely using CSS, possibly some XML, and definitely including some flash stuff (but as optionally accessible content, not functional parts of the page). must see how much php i'm able to re-wrap my head around in the next week or so.
*** dreamed last night about some cute british-y animated series that was bought by the producers of sesame street and brought to the states. they marketed it like crazy... the main character habitually ate three cookies everyday when he got home from work or school or whateversuch, and so they were selling tableware tied-in to the show - ceramic cookie plates that had various fractions of three glazed onto them, cookie spoons (my subconscious apparently thinks we eat cookies with spoons), and vegetable bowls for vegetable dishes. i saw these things and immediately thought of xie (who i guess liked the show) and was trying to figure out how much of this stuff i could afford to buy her and which things were the coolest. the cookie spoons were frigging $9.85. at first i was going to get her the vegetable bowl and mabye the cookie spoon, but then i realized the cookie spoons and cookie plates would go together to make a nice little cookie set and so i should get her those. damn expensive, but i knew she would be totally surprised and love them.
bah for randomly happening across the perfect (if random) gift in your dreams, and then waking up to realize it doesn't actually exist. i hadn't even been thinking about buying xie's birthday present or anything this early, its just that i somehow knew she would've loved one of those cookie plates. i have no idea what i could get her in real life that would be as happy as it was in my dream. damn dream merchandising!![tongue](https://dz3ixmv6nok8z.cloudfront.net/static/img/emoticons/tongue.55c59c6cdad7.gif)
