fatespawn has his littlejohn's sandwich test early tomorrow morning - wish him luck!
and, sadly, am far too late in the evening to call home again... wanted to talk with xie more. cannot remember whether she was going to get her nipples pierced *this* weekend or next... all i can remember is the the piercers were near the beach. so yeah, wish her luck too, though it may be after the fact...
am a fish-coddler. got neurotic fish a friend even though he's only managed to live one day. still, 1 out of 1 is 100% - an excellent track record so far. i'm feeling good about it, got to see him eat with his lovely cthulu proboscis today and his whole self vibrates when he chews (if he chews... otherwise i guess it's when he swallows). good news: heard from a friend that corys (cories?) don't die easily. hooray! and the friend - is a somewhat larger upside-down catfish, blind in one eye. the coolness - it looks like a normal catfish but habitually swims upside-down, so it looks like its got its eyes on its cheeks and a mouth in its forehead and catfish whiskers branching upwards in a crown. it also does backflips and barrel rolls, and, on occasion, even swims right side up. perhaps not the best companion for a neurotic fish - i know i'd find it unnerving if i got a new upside-down roommate - but now they're hanging out, even hung about in the same little cave awhile, and both of them seem quite content. are currently referred to as "neurotic fish" and "upside-down fish." dunno if they will gain more name-like names anywhere along the way. shall see.
ushered at the salmagundi film festival last night... was some impressive stuff. frustration, though. am still wanting to put together a kick-ass entry, for next year now. but it's gonna be animation, at least in some large part, and it's tough to look at the video footage and be newly, painfully aware just how many fricking frames are in every second. it seems so much faster, even with concerns for lighting and composition and focus and color balance and such, to film actual things rather than create every single bit of the world you're portraying out of the void of a blank white space. even if the computer's tweening so you don't have to draw each frame. and with all the anime i've been watching, naturally i want to figure out how to do nifty camera angles and motion as well... i've got to figure out a way to break stuff down and fashion smaller exercises for myself so that this doesn't continue to be some huge, amazing, unapproachable thing that i desire from a distance. i know how to animate, but i've got to get past that into learning how to animate well. have made fitful starts but i think i tend to bite off more than i can chew and end up spitting it out so i don't choke. i wish i had a brain with an unhingeable jaw, like a snake's, to take the knowledge of a thing and swallow it whole...
am still sick. physically weak, on and off, coughing and wheezing and nose-clogging. still haven't gotten into excercising as although i occasionally feel like maybe i could do it, i remember how shortly before i was straining my will to keep walking back to the dorm rather than sitting on the curbside and resting. not a good time to be jogging on treadmill or lifting weights. *sigh* when i get better it'll be a pain to get back up to speed, but still i'm eager. heh - and to top it all off i've got one of those horrid little pimple-in-your-ear things going on, where it's probably a tiny little thing but feels enormous and pressuresome and hurts and hurts to the point that you want to gouge your ear with a spoon. i look forward to being healthy again. hopefully before the end of the semester hits... i can imagine that might send me back under again. wooo.
now to bed, to sleep, to health. weekend's over and we miss it already. my two fish are so cool. i wonder if xie is now more holy. fatespawn is really nice to me... i hope i stop being grumpy soon. not being sick will help. and there's nyquil downstairs, wheee! yeah for sleeping better tonight than last night. off i goes and gets some.
goodnight.
