Merry Christmas, if you so choose to celebrate this holiday!
I am nestled in for the Christmas Eve night by the twinkling tree, have already played Santa for the little one so her morning is filled with joy, and am now enjoying a delicious beer (Three Philosophers' Belgian Style Beer from NY...yum! Belgian beer is my favorite!) and watching A Christmas Story (you'll shoot your eye out!). Luckily, the family craziness is already over. Although traditions have changed over the years, my family has always traditionally celebrated on Christmas Eve. I remember when I was child having to eat something that I didn't want to eat before being able to open presents...but luckily these days the food is yummy (and for me and my daughter, vegetarian friendly!) and the family is plentiful. My two brothers and their families (and my family) gather at my parents' house for a few hours of madhouse, dinner, and exchanging gifts. It's great to have everyone in one place, but I'm pretty much done by the end of the night. I wish I lived closer to home so it didn't have to be so...prolonged! Well, traditions evolve over the years, so who knows what the future holds. I am looking forward to my daughter opening her presents (from me) in the morning and then lasagna dinner at my brother's house in the afternoon.
I am even more excited about New Year's, however! I haven't really celebrated in years, and this year have already arranged for my daughter to visit with my parents for the weekend so I can celebrate in style! Huzzah!
