Word. I think also, I was expecting him to mock the "going to India to find yourself/have a spiritual journey" story, but it ended up being more serious than I thought it would be. Which is, actually, kind of a imperialist attitude towards India, a place that doesn't need that kind of derogatory treatment from a bunch of white folks.

I suppose so, but the plan to visit Mom only comes out about halfway through. They start off agreeing to a "spiritual quest" to become brothers "the way they used to be." So I guess the setting is incidental, but they've also chosen it for "spiritual" qualities (or one of them has, anyway), so it's still weird like that.
