My head almost got sliced open by a falling pane of glass!!!
heh, have i got your attention? i was walking down the city street, full of wonderfully old buildings, when something falls in front of me, about 20 feet from me. it is a pane of glass.
its falling like a living thing, like a bird swooping in for the kill before lifting on twisting air currents. its not a perfect word but im calling it surreal. i couldnt process what was happening till just before or just after the crash, when i realized that ricochetting glass could pierce my vulnerable eye balls or worse, scratch my expensive glasses!
at my pace of walking, i was 3- 5 seconds from point of impact. a butterfly flapping his wings somewhere could have redirected me right under that pane, then, emergency room, no insurance = wrecked life, or dead.
phew! as near as i can figure it, the WIND was blowing hard enough on old window frames to cause the pane to just ... jump out of the frame. bonsai, everyone.
