Well we are getting down there. I keep saying that but its actually becoming true. 26 days from tomorrow (Monday) I shall be gone. I couldn't be more anxious.
I went to see my recruiter the other day last week who happened to mention that he thought I put on a little weight. For those playing the home game, in high school I weighed 155lbs and was 6'5... the height I currently am. Now thanks to College, drinking and the gradual retardation of my metabolism, I put on a little weight. When I went to swear in and sign on the dotted line for the military, I weighed 189. To those of you gasping in horror at my skinniness (is that even a word?) don't fret. I'm well above the normal level for my height. Back to the story... I signed in the middle of June which is well over three months ago. Since then I've been enjoying more homecooked meals so of course I'm going to gain a little weight. Right now I weigh an even 200lbs which is the most I have ever weighed in my life. Its pretty hard to tell and my friends and family hesitate little when making fun of how skinny I am, but apparently my sergeant thought I had put on weight...well I suppose he was right.
I was surprised that he was that concerned about it. I'm not fat by any means, but as I found out later, that usually when guys have long waits before leaving for basic they gain a lot of weight. He didn't want that to happen to me and since I did a little he had to ask.
I'm well within my limits still. My problem (and I suppose partially what I'm writing for) is... I run about a mile to two miles every day. I do 100 situps and about... 70ish pushups to get ready for PT and what not. On top of eating a lot healthy and cutting out drinking altogether (I haven't had a drink in months) it seems that I can't get myself down from the 200 mark. Any suggestions would be great.
My brother, who is also in the Army, told me that I'll lose about 10 -15 lbs in basic. I'm not too worried because I know I'll come out looking a lot better on the other side of this, but it doesn't hurt to be as prepared as possible. I'd like to lose about... 5-10lbs in the next 3 1/2 weeks. Like I said any suggestions, hints, tips, short cuts that are SAFE would be much appreciated.
Sorry for the long rant. I feel less witty writing about this shit, but oh well. Its done.
How is everyone doing?
