Fall.
It has shown up in force this morning. It appeared in the night with a loud crack of thunder that shook my house, startling me awake. It was at this exact moment, when I looked out the window to see sheets of raining covering the window, that I knew that the warm weather we had enjoyed for so long was now gone.
I found my robe, laying like a fallen comrade on the ground, and wrapped it around myself because I was rather curious about the rain and had to go investigate like a child on Christmas morning.
Glancing at the wall clock, and hearing its "tick tick" as if telling me to go back to bed because its 2:30am. I ignore it. I rush out the door and stand on my porch, and within moments I'm drenched. I felt as if I gained twenty pounds with the now soggy robe on my back. "This is going to be fun to peel off of me," I thought.
But in that moment, I just let my hands stretch out, and I tilted my head back to look straight up at the sky, watching the lightning spread across the night. It was nice to feel my fears subdue for just an instant. Nothing like finding an outward manifestation of something brewing inside of you and confronting it.
I love thunderstorms.
