Well, I've been a member for about a month now, so I guess it's probably about time to put something substantive in this journal...
I don't know how much I have in common with a lot of the people here, but I guess that's one of the reasons I was drawn to this web site. I don't have any tattoos or body mods, and have never really been someone that you could label as punk, goth, emo, or any of the other labels floating around in these parts. I am a very eclectic and open-minded person, though (or at least like to think I am), and I have discovered some musical groups in my exploration of the site that I might never have heard of or given a second thought to.
I originally visited because I saw a few pictures of Elara and figured that if the rest of the women here looked like her, the site had to be worth at least a look. When I got here, though, I discovered that the nakkie pics of beautiful women, as nice as they are to look at, are kind of a secondary component in relation to the community that has built itself around the pics. The people here seem to be genuine, which in itself is pretty unique, and not afraid to remain genuine even if it falls outside of mainstream expectations and the tired cliches associated with them. Having lived long enough to see how fake and superficial American society has become, I have begun to yearn for the type of sincerity I find here, and I suppose that's why I have decided to stick around.
Well, that and the pretty girls, obviously...
So anyway, if I occasionally come across as a dork, it's because I'm relatively new to the culture that this site reflects, and not just because I am a dork. Don't get me wrong, I am a dork, but I'm also a dork out of his element. But I'm sure you will all rub off on me in all the right ways.
And if not, I'm perfectly content to rub off on myself.
