The new year is not starting off on a great note. I found out tonight that one of my nieces has gotten herself hooked on meth.
They're trying to get her into some sort of rehab, but not having a whole lot of luck at this point. It's a damn shame, because she's only 20 years old and has her whole life ahead of her. I feel really bad for her, but even worse for my brother, who is having to cope with this as her father. I went through something like this with my mom when she was hooked on heroin, so I know it's going to be hard on him. I just hope she can get herself straightened out before she gets thrown in jail, or worse.

Edit: I made a stupid joke about meth labs on the CE boards, before I read your journal. Just so you know that I'm not a spectacularly callous jerk if you run across the comment. (I'm really only a slightly dim, run-of-the-mill jerk.) And I do sincerely hope your niece gets better.
