monday came too fast. friday i drove to my old home town with jen to attend her grandma's funeral. her health had been deteriorating for a good time, so this was expected but still very sad.
saturday night we spent a couple of hours with some friends. during a vape fest i asked if i could bring my car into the partially walled off garage so i could take my dash apart and mod my ipod bridge settings. this ended up costing me a bit of money ... once the job was done my friend hit the garage door opener button while my rear bumper was touching the door.
there's a huge deep scratch that went through the paints and into the plastic. i'm guessing it'll be a couple hundred to fix 'cause the whole bumper will probably be repainted. sad face.
i had also purchased jen a .1% carrot diamond ring that day as we were hunting for a sweater for me to wear to the funeral 'cause i forgot my shirt and tie for my suit (i was rushed!). originally i was just gonna get her ring size, but then i saw this nice little white gold ring with 'i love you' engraved on the side so i impulse bought it without looking at the stones closely 'cause .. well i figured they'd be fine. i was wrong. after some time with the ring jen noticed some surface damage to the stone faces. closer inspection revealed deep scratches and chips in these "diamonds"; so i called the store to verify what the stones where and then told them of the issues with the ring. they asked that i bring it back.
when i did, some random bitch who didn't hold the ring or actually serve me just stood by saying i was seeing occlusions. i looked at her said "surface damage, not occlusions" .. after a few "they're not clear" "that's internal" "they're occlusions" i was getting pissed. she was really arguing that the ring was fine and my eyes were flawed... and then her co-worker who had asked to see the ring said "actually i see a deep scratch on this stone, this stone is chipped.." etc. it turned out there wasn't a ring to exchange on site. the people at the store suggested i bring the ring to ottawa to exchange; and i felt bad that i was gonna be taking jen's ring back so i said 'sure, i'll do that'. about 20 mins later i decided that i didn't want to deal with another bitch/cunt/whatever in ottawa as i tried to explain i wanted to exchange a damaged ring from another city (dumb idea eh?).
so, back to the store for a third time. as the return transaction was almost completed the bitch showed up and said "what's the problem now?" and i looked at her said "i don't want to deal with someone like you in ottawa, so i'm returning the damaged ring". she said something stupid, i replied with "it's not my ring now" 'cause the transaction was completed and left.
fucking nightmare jewelery experience. i got the ring sku on the receipt so i'm going to find a good copy of it tonight after work.
