Hello Everyone!!
Sorry for the disturbance and the absence but today I wanted to talk about a topic that It’s very personal to me and because is related to one of my favorites authors: Roald Dahl.
Honestly, this is my personal opinion and I don’t want to offend or irritate anyone and if you don’t agree with me that’s fine, I am not judging you, but the fact some people, in particular Netflix and Puffin Books who owns the rights of Dahl’s works now, have heavily censored and distorted his bibliography because they find offensive is a bit a joke.
I don’t agreed to this fact because first they didn’t ask to the author (Dahl died in 1990) or his heirs to modify his or express his opinion about this fact and create a healthy confrontation about it, and second everyone, even a child, can distinguish what is wrong or right in a book If you give an exhaustive explanation and contextualization.
If you find a topic or something that you think is hurtful, even that is from a different era, censorship without discussion or reflection is not the solution.
Talking about this argument and explaining, with patience and tolerance, of why this fact is offensive now is the best option.
